These are the Horizontal Stabilizer photos, this was the FIRST BIG section assembled

These photos are just few of many, I just gave you a quick overview, I have about 100 hours in just this section. But I think it came out great

Here we go, this is the first part to be worked on. Rear Spar Reinforcement bar being filed down to fit the Spar channel.

Putting it together

This is first pieces to be put together. Elevator hinge bearing bracket to rear spar

Melvin doing what he does BEST!

it's getting there

I think I have a GRIP on it here

the small spike looking things are Cleco's, it's a clamp that fits in the drill holes to hold parts together, this face is from a 15 hour day at work

want some dimples, this tool will give ya some QUICK!

Alex dedurring drlled holes, every hole, both sides

edge shaping, every piece, every edge

more dimples

after every piece has been drilled, deburred, edge shaped, scuffed off the shinyness it has to be cleaned, treated and then a two part epoxy primed

Did I mention these chemicals are TOXIC ??

this really sucks, I can't see anything

I gusee this makes it all worth it, these came out GREAT, the green is the primer

Squeezing rivets in the spar

this blue stuff is a protective plastic covering that has to be removed, here I have trimed out thin strip first.

Yes, The skins also have to get the same prep and primer treatment. These are very tough to do.

Melvin wants to go out and play

thats a rivet bucking bar I'm holding down inside between the skins and I have to drive the rivets with the air gun on the other side

this is the air gun, my other arm is inside holding the bucking seen in the last photo.......

check out the other side, it's got most of the field rivets done, here I'm setting up for the next skin

Now I'm installing the end rib

here is Alex putting in Cleco's for me

this is the Horizontal Stabilizer skeleton all riveted and cleoc'd together, a few parts have to come off and go in first.

Good Job Alex!

Hand squeezing edge rivets

Almost done, now install the rear spar

Did I tell you that EVERY rivet has to be checked with a gauge, here you can see me checking the shop head side of the rivet.

squeeze then measure......

pretty cool surf board,,, This is the Hoizontal stabilizer in ONE piece, I started out with 530 rivets, 33 pieces of aluminum and 4 bolts....

I think the table can fly now......
